10 Future Technologies That May Change The World

10 Future Technologies That May Change The World

We'll watch THIS VIDEO in class (and you'll be able to refer back to it at home). After you watch it, think about the ten technologies presented, and pick the one you think will "take off" the fastest.

As you explain why, talk about:

What industry will drive it's development and/or be responsible for its success?

Why do you believe will it be successful?

What might hold back the development or acceptance of the technology, and why?

When you respond to classmates, challenge or support their predictions, and offer your opinions and additional information.

Note: Be sure to post thoughtful responses to blog questions - both the initial question that I post, AND to the posts of your classmates.  "Yeah, I agree," or "Good point!" is not a complete response. Remember, you're carrying on a conversation, that you are contributing to!

  1. I think that 3D printing will take off the fastest. 3D printing will take off the fastest because it already is in full motion and printing smaller things now and they do take quite a bit of time but it gets the job done,as we advance though 3D printing will get more advanced and start making bigger things and even human tissue for medical reasons. 3D printing in the future will be able to make bigger things and things you can actually use in real life like phones, tools, computers and such even cars. So i think that 3D printing will take off the fastest because its already in full motion and making good ground.

    1. I agree bigger and better things will come around with this technology. A lot of the things you talked about are the things I agreed on in my comment too.

    2. My second choice after the VR headset would have been 3D printing because it's already taking off. This can be very effective for many people, and like you said for medical reasons.

    3. I also think that 3D printing will take off the fastest. We are able to make many of cool things using 3D printing such as, toys, phone cases, different figures, logos and much much more.

  2. I think the VR oculus headset will take off the fastest, since the video gaming market is a really demanding business right now. People will pay 100's of dollars for video gaming entertainment. The only thing I think would stop progression on VR headsets is that they are extremely expensive, and not everyone can afford them.

    1. My second choice over 3D printing was going to be the VR headset because of the video game industry also. I agree with you on that in the future as the headset gets more advanced and more expensive not many people will be able to afford it.

    2. I also think that VR will make a huge impact in our lives soon, it already has started with people getting them for their phones to plug into and watch horror videos and etc. on YouTube, can't wait to see what the future will bring

    3. VR headsets aren't going to go anywhere besides the use of the medical field. Some of the reasons it won't go anywhere in the video game market is because you need a lot of room to use the thing, you get dizzy wearing them and they cost at least 1200$ just to play them for all the stuff you need.

    4. I believe the VR will make a huge impact in our lives too. Once again, it's already taking off, but as Tyler said getting a really good one would cost a lot, and it does need a lot of room to use it. Hopefully you don't get dizzy, but as I said in my comment I think the VR will take off.

    5. I believe that VR will make a big impact on our lives. With VR there are so many opportunities for video gaming and much more in that industry and i feel that VR will take off immensely especially since video gaming is a big part in our lives.

  3. I think the VR will become successful the fastest. The video game industry will be responsible for the success of the development. I think it will because it's already out in the world, and it's very popular. Many people already own one. Something that might hold the development back from becoming successful is if people move their head too fast and the video lags, or doesn't move as fast it could possible make people sick.

  4. I Think the 3D printing will be the most success because we have already started to make certain things for people in need of an arm or a leg and we already saved alot of people around the world with 3D printed body parts and it has been very productive.

  5. i think the VR is the technology that will take off the fastest. The video game industry will drive its development. I think it will be successful because for one the idea is awesome and its already out in the world i actually have one and its very entertaining. the hold back might be how you feel after using it, you can get sick sometime and dizzy.

  6. I believe that 3D printing will take off the fastest. I think it will because we already have them in our school for science classes and it can be used for multiple reasons. One of the biggest things it can be used for is medical help, they could be able to print things, like a pair of lungs, for cancer patients, a working reproductive system for women, or a leg for a war veteran but thats not where it stops. With the rise and acceptance of the LGBT+ community it could help Transgender youth by making the supply for sex reassignment surgeries safer and more available.

    1. You could not use 3D printed lungs if you needed a transplant.

  7. I think that 3D printing is going to take off the fastest. It's already big just think what it's going to be like in five to ten years. It's crazy to think that skin and body parts can be 3D printed. I believe it will be successful because this could potentially save peoples lives. I think the medical field will really make this technology something amazing.

  8. I think the industry responsible for Invisibility is driven by the military, when in war, being invisible is obviously a huge advantage, but it'll also be very expensive when it does officially come, also I think it'll be only available to certain companies and businesses. I think that like the police and FBI are holding it back somewhat, cause if someone were to commit a crime and then the person is invisible, then they would get away with it so that's also one of the reasons I think that it will be expensive.

    1. The illuminati shapeshifting government already uses invisibility technology made by the aliens to spy on everyday people and their plan is to mind control and brain wash us all so they can launch a full out invasion of our planet.

  9. 3D printing is already being used a lot to make things that may be otherwise hard to get. Construction companies, hospitals, and even just normal people are starting to use it way more. It's an easy way to bring someone's ideas to life, or just a way to get things out of convenience. That's not to say it's all good though, it's bound to be expensive to buy the material needed to print. The larger/more important the item, the more expensive it'll probably be. There will always be a concern from someone that it may not be safe to rely on printing for our everyday lives. Since we've already started to experiment with 3D printing, I believe it'll take off the fastest.

    1. I agree. It's already is being used, and can be very useful.

    2. 3D printing has been the most productive so far and it has helped save a lot of people with prosthetic body parts so I agree with you.

  10. I feel that the Maglev train will take off the fastest. I feel like it will really help with last minute traveling, or helping employers get to work if they have an out of town job. This could really be popular with citizens everywhere. I believe it will be successful because of how fast it gets to its destinations, and will help people get where they need to be. However, the development might be unstable because of how fast it is, and could lose stability quickly.

    1. It's a nice convenience to be able to get somewhere quicker and to be able to have more time for other things. It's scary though to think about what might happen if the train were to malfunction and come to a sudden stop. A train going that fast and then suddenly stopping? That's all kinds of dangerous.

      Delete
    2. That's exactly what I mean. It's development could be unstable due to speed, thus causing possibly fatal injuries if a sudden stop were to happen.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Tabbi if that train stops suddenly, It could end up breaking someone's neck or hurting them badly.

      Delete
    4. The trains would be amazing to get places and it would be faster, you cant just base something on the chance of injury. You could get injured doing literally anything. If you stop or don't do something because there's a risk of getting hurt nothing would be experimented

  11. Neurohacking, I think, will take off the fastest because this is something we need. Unlike a game, this will help people who have alzheimer's or dyslexia. Once they advance Neurohacking, it will help people who can't walk or don't have movement to their limbs. The downside would be that someone could hack the machine and have total control of you.

    1. I agree that it will help people that need it, I just hope it doesn't actually turn into something that invades our privacy or something that becomes a torture device/weapon in wars.

      Delete
    2. This development could be groundbreaking and could treat those who need it. However the risk of ghost hacking is too high, in my opinion.

    4. I also agree that this will help so many people that need it. I also see what tabbi is saying how this may turn into something that invades or privacy or something ten time worse.

    5. I agree that this will most certainly help people but I also agree with the fact that if we can hack people's minds there is an overwhelming risk of ghost hacking

  12. I think that 3D printing be the most important. With 3D printing you can print almost anything you want with about what ever you want. The most important use for 3D printing will be the medical field because you can print new organs and new bones that are the right size. And the only bad thing about it right now is its slow and you cant print very big things.

  13. I think 3D printing will take off the fastest. All the different things you can make, from things as small as a button to a house. It can be used to make multiple things, from everyday items you find around the house to a possible new creation. It's probably going to be used more in the medical field as years go by and technology advances. It really can be used to make many things, and for different situations.

    1. I agree, 3d printing is already here, only 2 other things in the list are here too, and 3d printing seems like the most important and should be our top priority.

    2. I also agree with both of your opinions 3D printing is probably going to be our best technical advancement.

  14. The development of the flying car will take off the fastest when it becomes a safer model. The question is how are they going to make it legal and if a car crashes down then the insurance companies will have to create new The auto industry will be on board because the regular car profits will decrease and they will want to be able to make even more money. Customers would want to know it's safe so they are going to want absolute proof that it works so they will probably struggle to convince buys the most and pass laws about driving regulations just like regular cars. I think it will be successful because buyers will not have to worry about traffic on regular highways and it might decrease accident percentages.

    1. I disagree I don't think flying cars are going to come out the fastest there are to many risk factors that need to be solved and if they do come out it will be a couple years before people can use them they will probably need a different license to fly it.

      Delete
    2. I think flying cars will be very hard to get going, we do not yet have a safe way to do this. I think it will be many many years, if ever that we will see a flying car. It would be really cool to to have them though.

      Delete
  15. Flying cars are a good idea in theory. However actually manufacturing would prove to be very difficult, not to mention everyone would have to reapply for their license and have to learn to drive another vehicle.

    ReplyDelete

    1. agreed, it would take more time and money to manufacture and teach someone how to drive one, then when you finally learn how to fly one, your gonna be spending more money on fuel than it costs to buy a round trip ticket.

  16. I think that 3D printing will take off the the fastest. I think as they become more popular and more cost friendly they will become a household item. You will no longer have to go out to the store to buy things you will just be able to print it on your 3D printer.

    1. I agree, it has already been in more development and has grown to be very progressive.

  17. I don't think the Invisibility cloak will take off very fast because how much money it is going to cost. By putting this tech out on the market just making it probably costs way too much for middle class people and only the real wealthy people would be able to afford it. I really think that only the military would use this tech because it can get some very good use in that way.

    1. I agree with this I feel like this would be great for the military but not the best for the everyday person. I think this mostly because of cost.

    2. The invisibility cloak would be a very cool tool to have, being able to hide large items would be helpful to the US Gov. I agree that it would be very expensive and hard to get, but again it would be very cool to have.

  18. My second choice would be 3d printing it is already in development and can be very effective in the long run with manufacturing and supplying surely supporting both the economy and the buyers growing into a huge franchise with common things that people will need everyday.

  19. The fastest thing that will take off, would be 3D printing because its already in the making and talked about a lot.
