The Making of a Vine Celebrity

The Making of a Vine Celebrity

There has NEVER been a time in the history of the planet when people had the ability to become instant "celebrities" as you can today. Think about it: Philip DeFranco, Rhett and Link, Justin Bieber - a person can be "discovered" instantly, just by posting a video - even a SIX SECOND video.

Read this article about a current Vine "celebrity", named Jerome Jarre. Take a look at the videos that are linked in the article also:

"Jerome Jarre: The Making of a Vine Celebrity"

Not only has this guy become famous in an instant, it looks like he's not just a "flash in the pan" because is seems as though he understands how to use social media apps to promote himself and other things around him. [Update: He and everyone else IS a "flash in the pan" as far as Vine is concerned - since they're pulling the plug on Vine!]

Had you heard of Jerome before reading the article? What do you think of what he's done on Vine?  What do you think about this kind of opportunity with mobile apps, such as Snapchat? Can anybody do it? Will such fame last, and is it something that can be made into a legitimate business?

HERE is his YouTube channel.

    2. I agree, I just don't understand how someone who makes a six second video can get such a huge reward when anyone in the world could do it, why doesn't everyone get that chance?

    3. I disagree, I don't think that everyone who makes a funny video will go viral like Jerome did. I assume people have tried to go viral before and nothing happened to them. Jerome just got lucky with his fame and he deserves it since he really tried and stuck with it.

    4. I don't think anyone can do it because my boy Devin Kelly at www.youtube.com/jazz101boy is a dead channel.

  2. He made a difference in promoting vine in a positive way. The fame would last depending on what the viewers would want to see and how active you are and appreciate them. Anyone could do it since it is public and it can be a legitimate business if you have the right connections for promoting businesses and to discuss deals with companies that will pay a decent amount for you to make a living without becoming broke.

    1. I agree because people really can make their buisness out of that and the way he promoted the vine it really makes a difference.

    2. I agree, the way you promote your content is everything.

    3. I agree. Promoting what you do is a big help in becoming famous.

    4. I agree, people can promote themselves and what they do so much faster now a days and can really make a difference, but we also have people that promote wrongs that can be put out there just as fast.

    5. I agree, he made a difference posting very positive things and i think that if their is enough more positive people promoting that it can last.

    6. I believe it could be a legitimate business but not a long lasting one, though promoting could help lengthen how long it lasts.

    7. I agree with how long it could last, it wont last long on its own but self promotion could make it go much further

  3. I had heard of him before this, I actually found him while scrolling through my explore page on Vine when I first got the app. I think it's a good thing that people have so many opportunities on mobile apps to explore what they want to do, whether that be music or a comedian. I think that this fame can and does last, even if an app gets shut down, like Vine, there are other apps, like Youtube, most of the Viners hopped over to Youtube when they knew Vine was shutting down and have even more fame now. So yes I do believe you can make a legitimate business out of this.

    1. I agree, it is such a great thing to be able to show off your talent and maybe even become famous.

    2. I agree everyone should be able to have a chance to be successful and that is what he has done. Anyone has a chance to do this.

    1. I agree it could be a great opportunity for many people and to even gain self confidence by watching the videos and to encourage them to do things that are out of their comfort zone and this guy on vine is a great example for people our age.

    2. I agree. It is a good way to gain confidence. It's also a good way to make potential friends, most if the viners I've watched are friends with eachother.

    3. Yes, its also just an amazing experience to show off your talent, so people can see exactly what you got.

    4. I agree he was on everything i saw him and its cool people can get a chance to become famous

    5. I agree, especially with what Shay mentioned. It's a good way to gain confidence.

  5. What he's doing is a good thing, I feel like a lot of people need what he's doing. I've seen him a few times, and I like his material. With Vine being shut down, I think Snapchat or Instagram would be the best second option to spread videos like his around. Anyone can do it, but not everyone will get famous off of it. It's all about luck and chance.

    1. I agree not everyone would gain fame but they would gain positive feedback.

    2. I also agree, it is really just luck and chance if you will really be able to turn your material that you put out there into fame. It all really depends on who will watch this material and how many times they will watch it.

    3. Yeah, anyone could post something but it's up to everyone else if it gets likes or views

    4. I agree, it all depends when you upload it, where you upload it, and what you're uploading

    5. Agreed, it is very hard to become famous it is all luck

  6. I have heard about this guy before and since some of his videos. Its crazy how fast someone can become famous now a days sometimes for good and for bad. People can either make you famous because they love you or hate you.

    1. I agree, it's crazy how someone can be famous for just a video if you think about it, they are going to be remembered for a long time and their name will be huge because of 6 seconds

  8. I think that some of his Vines are funny, but I don't think he should be famous for posting videos of him acting like a fool in public and getting hugely rewarded for it.

    1. Amen, it's a 6 second video and barely has to do anything to get "famous".

  9. Never heard of this Jerome guy before, his "content" is suspect. I think youtube and other social medias are a great way to become a millionaire if you can make it, but not everyone can do it. The social medias don't last forever though but you can make a lot of money doing it.

  10. i havent seen this guy that much but im not on vine or watch many videos on line but just from a couple watching him he is cool and positive i think their could be a legitimate business in this. Now a days it way easier to become famous, just a click of a button.

  11. When I first saw Jerome's name I didn't know who he was and I was interested to find out. Then I went and clicked the link and the first thing I saw was his picture and I instantly realized who it was. Answering the question above, I do not think everyone can instantly become famous like Jerome did. Anyone can make a comical video, but could it go viral like Jerome's did? The opportunity is nice and all but this fame won't last forever. Not unless you make the same videos all your life and even then your "biggest fans" will find someone new with better talents to watch. I believe someday every famous persons fame will eventually end and all that will be left to some people is just a familiar name.

  14. I think it's a good thing that people can promote themselves and have the opportunities to do what they want to do. I think the fame would last because since you already have videos out there they aren't going to be gone

  15. I've never heard of this guy before, but I don't doubt that his efforts paid off. It might not have seemed like he did much to get where he is, but I believe only certain people can become famous off of social media. There are tons of different things society looks at, and sometimes, the majority will pick someone to make the next sensation. I think the idea of making a business off of social media can be convenient, but I don't think it could be long term, as society is always changing.

  16. I've never seen or heard of this guy before today. I think of what he does on vine just going up to random people like that, really helps spread positivity to people who may need it most. I think that people can really take greta advantage of social media apps to get noticed and get their word across. This fame will probably last to long, since something else usually comes out and people lose interest in someone or something, and move on to the next thing.

  17. There are so many people that can become famous from an over night sensation or just a funny video. There are different things people can get famous for. But most certain people get famous for trends and usually when the trends blow over their roles kind of blow over.

  18. I have never heard of Jerome before reading the articles. I don't really care for vines that much so what he did on vine to me isn't that cool. Fame does happen to lucky people but it is very hard to keep for a long time. I don't really think it could be turned into a legitimate business.
